 
Dance is a magical, energetic and exciting art form that allows the dancer to express musicality, ideas and feelings through movement and use of the human body. It is a discipline and dedication to be respected, studied and enjoyed. The following is a list of dance classes and brief descriptions offered at Destination Dance.

Classical Ballet |

Classical Ballet is a disciplined and structured technique based on five positions of the feet in which the body is aligned and movement is executed. Mastering this challenging dance form produces dancers of great strength, flexibility and endurance. Classical music is the inspiration for ballet and allows the dancer to learn the fundamentals and history of music.
Ballet is the foundation for all dance and is a requirement for most of the additional dance classes offered at Destination Dance.

Jazz |

Jazz Dance explores a wide variety of movement styles and music including Contemporary, Lyrical, Broadway and Funk. These styles allow the dancer to experience a wide range of movement that is expressive and challenging. A minimum of two ballet classes per week is required and Hip-Hop is recommended. |

Pointe |
| |
Pointe is introduced to the experienced and technically proficient female ballet dancer no earlier than age 11. The student is advanced to dancing in pointe shoes which enables the dancer to execute ballet movement on their toes. This class is by invitation only with a minimum requirement of two ballet technique classes per week. |

Tap |
| |
Tap is a unique style of dance that utilizes the entire body while originating the movement from the feet. Tap shoes allow the dancer to make intricate percussion sounds that create music. Various tap techniques and sounds will be presented including Broadway, pop and Street. Ballet is recommended and will allow the dancer to balance and shift easily from one foot to another.

Creative Movement |

Creative Movement is an introduction to dance class designed for 3-4 year olds. This class works on developing the child’s motor skills and teaches structure through movement, music and props. Classical music and age appropriate music will enhance the child’s creativity. |

Hip-Hop |
| |
Hip-Hop is a contemporary street dance style that demands the dancer to move rhythmically while isolating different parts of the body at the same time. Hip-Hop, funk and contemporary pop music provide the backdrop for this energetic and aerobic dance class. Ballet and jazz are recommended. |

Pre-Ballet |
| |
Pre-Ballet is a ballet class for 5-6 years of age. The class will introduce the student to classical ballet technique and continue to concentrate on developing motor skills through movement, music and props. Classical and contemporary piano music along with ballet French terminology will be implemented. |

BreakDancing |
| |
Breakdancing is another form of street dance. It is arguably the best known of all (old school) hip hop dance styles. Ballet, jazz and Hip-Hop classes are recommended. |

Modern Dance |
| |
Modern Dance is an exciting art form that utilizes ballet technique while introducing floor work, suspension, partnering and improvisation. Modern dance is unlimited in its use of movement, gravity and space. The class will be based on Martha Graham and Jose Limon techniques but will also offer additional styles. The music is varied including classical, contemporary and percussion. A minimum of two ballet classes per week is required. |

Latin Ballroom |

Latin Ballroom is a form of ballroom dance that focuses on the Latin dances such as Salsa, Meringue, Rhumba and Cha-Cha. These styles teach the dancer rhythm, balance, coordination and partnering to sultry Latin tunes. Ballet is recommended. This class is open to singles as well as partners. |
